new core updates to the demo
Mother, Is That You? » Devlog
After a lot of struggling to get my life together (and I still have no internet at my new place), I managed to work out some core mechanic updates.
- Chairs can be pushed 1 time before breaking. Tables still too on edge.
- Movement refined. You can now walk diagonally at any solid wall or object and slide along it, instead of the "sticky" instant stop/getting stuck. Makes things way easier.
- Reduced the number of Hyakumes and confined them a bit more. Those guys were annoying enough to begin with.
- Slight furniture and level adjustments.
- A new type of spook. Harmless though. Unless you have a heart condition.
- Some various sound changes.
The main ones are the chair pushing and the movement. The game no longer feels clunky, and Daughter instantaneously obliterating furniture by her hair brushing against it was a bit too OP. These updates make for a much more complete and refined feel to the gameplay. They were big obstacles in the way, now I can continue on my level and dev plan towards game completion. No real time frame yet, sadly. As I've said, I work on this alone so it's a bit rough and it takes me a lot of time.
Mother, Is That You?
